Luverne Public Library Summer Reading Program offers season of fun

The Luverne Public Library is preparing to kick its annual Summer Reading program into action.

Each summer, the library holds a variety of events open to local youth, encouraging reading and its benefits while also bringing in interesting exhibits, such as last summer’s wildlife show.

This year the theme is “Universe of Stories/Summer of Science”, and the schedule is filled with exciting events for people of all ages.

  • Tuesday, June 4th at 10 a.m. – 3-8 years  Summer Reading
  • Wednesday, June 5th at 2 p.m. – Movie Day
  • Thursday, June 6th at 10 a.m. – 9-12 years  Summer Reading
  • Thursday, June 6th at 11:15 – Yoga
  • Friday, June 7th at 10 a.m. – Alabama 4-H Center “Raptor Trek” for all ages
  • Monday, June 10th at 10 a.m. – Gene Cordova (Ventroloquist) for all ages
  • Tuesday, June 11th at 10 a.m. – 3-8 years Summer Reading
  • Wednesday, June 12th at 2 p.m. – Movie Day
  • Thursday, June 13th at 10 a.m. – 9-12 years Summer Reading
  • Thursday, June 13th at 11:15 – Yoga
  • Friday, June 14th at 10 a.m. – Skip, the Magic Guy for all ages
  • 1 p.m. – Magic class with Skip for ages 8 and up
  • Monday, June 17th at 10 a.m. – Mr. Bond, the Science Guy for all ages
  • Tuesday, June 18th at 10 a.m. – 3-8 years Summer Reading
  • Wednesday, June 19thBook Club meets at noon
  • Wednesday, June 19th at 2 p.m. – Movie Day
  • Thursday, June 20th at 10 a.m. – 9-12 years Summer Reading
  • Thursday, June 20th at 11:15 – Yoga
  • Thursday, June 20th at 4 p.m. – 4-H club
  • Thursday, June 20th @ 5:15 p.m. – Yoga
  • Monday, June 24th at 10 a.m. – Dr. Magical Balloons for all ages
  • Tuesday, June 25th at 10 a.m.  – 3-8 years Summer Reading
  • Wednesday, June 26th at 2 p.m. – Movie Day
  • Thursday, June 27th at 10 a.m. – 9-12 years Summer Reading
  • Thursday, June 27th at 11:15 – Yoga
  • Thursday, June 27th at 4 p.m. – LEGO club

LPL director Kathryn Tomlin extended a hand of thanks to the Luverne Rotary Club for helping to make the Summer Reading program a possibility.

“For the past several years, the Luverne Rotary Club has sponsored our Summer Reading program.  Having these funds has allowed us to schedule all the big events during the month of June.

There will be lots of fun for kids of all ages. Everything is free and we welcome everyone to participate in our Summer Reading program,” she explained.
