Crashes kill two on Interstate 65

Two accidents days apart have killed two people on Interstate 65 in Butler County this week.

An accident early Thursday morning took the life of a South Carolina man and an accident Tuesday morning killed a Baldwin County man.

According to Alabama State Troopers, a two-vehicle crash occurred around 1:15 a.m.  Thursday near the 113 mile marker south of Georgiana. Isaiah Wilson, 75, of Elgin, S.C., was critically injured when his 2010 Chevrolet Avalanche was struck by a tractor-trailer driven by James Bourgeois, 48, of River Ridge, La.

On Tuesday, a single-vehicle crash near the 119 mile marker resulted in the death of Cameron Michael Carlson, 62, of Baldwin County.

Information from the Troy Post of the Alabama Highway Patrol, Troop B said Carlson’s 2016 Nissan Altima left the roadway and struck a tree around 7:50 a.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

State Troopers say no other information is being released at this time as they continue their investigations of the incidents.
