Influenza prompts guest restrictions

The threat of flu spreading has prompted a local nursing facility to restrict visitations.

Crowne Health Care of Greenville posted on its Facebook page last week that visitors were prohibited due to the recent outbreak of flu in area.

“Crowne Health Care of Greenville is respectfully requesting no visitors at this time due to the flu being prevalent in our community,” the post reads. “Thank you for understanding that we are requesting no visitors at this time because the health of our residents will always be our No. 1 priority.”

The flu virus was also responsible for closing Fort Dale Academy recently for several days to allow students to get healthy and for officials to clean the school. It reopened with far less absences than when officials closed its doors. 

Across the nation this year’s flu season has been one of the heaviest on record recently, according to public health officials.”
