Funeral services were held today, Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Carter Rice and West Funeral home for John El Whittle, 71, who died on Thursday, Oct. 4 at Crowne Nursing Home in Greenville.

Mr. John was born September 15, 1947 in Greenville to the late Azell & Lessie Whittle. He was the fourth of six children. Whittle’s parents, and two brothers, Ezekiel Whittle and James Earl Whittle preceded him in death.

Whittle is survived by siblings, Namiah (Katherine) Whittle and Allin (Betty) Whittle of Greenville and Annie (Junius) Wells of Jasper; sister-in-laws, Edna Whittle of St. Stephens and Gwen Whittle of Petersburg, VA; uncle, Hervine Bedgood of Greenville; seven nieces, six nephews, twelve great nieces, nine great nephews and host of other family, cousins and friends.
