What was billed as “A Walk in the Park” seemed more like a stroll down the red carpet Saturday night at Greenville’s Ritz Theatre, with a bevy of young beauties dressed to dazzle in a rainbow of spectacular gowns.
The back-to-back Junior Miss FDA and Miss FDA pageants, sponsored by the FDA Dance Teams, brought a total of 27 junior and senior high students to the stage to vie for their respective crowns.
Abigail Matthews, pretty in purple, took the Junior Miss FDA title, crowned by 2017’s Junior Miss FDA, Lilly Boswell. Shalyn Halford was selected as first runner-up and Most Photogenic, with second runner-up honors going to Kinley Woodard. Maire Scott was voted Miss Congeniality by her fellow junior high contestants.
Other Junior Miss FDA contestants who were chosen for the Top Ten included Jess Causey, Kristan Sessions, Hannah Huggins, Emily Snyder, Rosie Rogers, Alana Killough and Grace Gibson.
In the senior high competition, it was Kinley’s big sister Kelsey Woodard who took the title of Miss FDA 2018. Kelsey, crowned by outgoing Miss FDA Grayson McCall, dazzled in a peacock blue and silver gown. Abbie Salter, also chosen Most Photogenic, took first runner-up, while Hannah Jayroe earned second runner-up honors.
Fellow contestants for Miss FDA included Caroline Pope, Amber Smith and Meagan Edgar.
