Festive fun planned for Library in December
The Luverne Public Library has a festive lineup of activities slated for the month of December, says library director Kathryn Tomlin.
“Come and join us at 4 p.m. next Monday, December 11, for our Christmas Craft Day. We will have great holiday crafts for all age to enjoy making,” Tomlin says.
On Thursday, December 14, it’s the “Tween” Cooking Club for ages 9-12 kicking off at 4 p.m. With Katie Lee, Crenshaw County extension agent. “We do ask that you register to attend this event. The kids always have such a good time,” says Tomlin.
Also on December 14, there’s the opportunity to improve flexibility, strength and balance for children ages 8-14 during the Kids’ Yoga Session, set for 5:15 p.m. with Crenshaw County extension agent, Emily Rolling.
And kids of all ages will definitely not want to miss an event slated for Monday, December 18 at the library, Tomlin says.
“From 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. that Monday Santa himself will be with us! He will arrive at the library on the big red fire truck that afternoon and visit with all the children until 6 p.m,” Tomlin says.
“Each child in attendance will receive a small gift bag from Saint Nick, and light refreshments will also be served. Parents, be sure and bring your cameras!”
At noon on Wednesday, December 20, the “Lunch Bunch” adult book club meets. “Readers, come and join us for a discussion of popular book titles,” says Tomlin.
Also on December 20, it’s “Teen Time” for youth ages 13-18 at 4 p.m. “This month the teens are having an ‘Ugly Christmas Sweater’ Party, and that’s guaranteed to be a lot of fun. We can’t wait to see their creations!”
For LEGO lover of all ages, the LEGO Club meets at 4 p.m. Thursday, December 21.
“We hope you can come out and enjoy some of these activities at the library this month—and Merry Christmas” says Tomlin. The library will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, December 25 and 26.
