SFC (retired) Joseph Womack, 89, of Columbus, Ga., passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Columbus Hospice.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 6 at Benning Hills Baptist Church. Pastor Rendolph Prudent will officiate., and Pastor Virginia Irick will serve as eulogist.  Visitation will be Monday, June 5 from noon until 6 p.m. at the funeral home, according to Sconiers Funeral Home, located at 836 5th Ave. in Columbus, Ga.

SFC Womack was born Jan. 31, 1928 in Greenville, Ala. He was the son of Elmore and Mary Davidson Womack. Mr. Womack retired from the US Army after more than 20 years of dedicated service.

Survivors include three sons, Tyler R. Womack, Rodney C. (Allison) Womack and Nathaniel Womack; four daughters, Paula G. Womack, Gail Womack Richardson, Josephine L. (Michael) Hunt and Tomoca (Mark) Williams; two sisters, Rushie Bell Hamilton and Laura Jean Womack; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a host of loving relatives.
