Funeral Services for Mr. Hardie Lee Ball were held on Thursday, June 1, 2017, at 11 a.m., at Zion Rest AME Zion Church with Rev. Dr. Mark Hawkins officiating. Carter Rice & West Funeral Home directed the arrangements.

Mr. Hardie Lee Ball was born Aug. 27, 1958 to the late Mr. Charlie Lee Ball and the late Mrs. Ora Bell Ball. He departed this life on Saturday, May 27, 2017.

He confessed Christ at an early age at New Hope Baptist Church in Greenville, Ala. Then, after marrying Catherine Smith, he joined Zion Rest AME Zion Church until his death.

Hardie leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife,  Catherine Ball; two sisters, Charlie Ann Ball of Greenville, Ala., and Laura Boleware of Alexander City, Ala.; one brother, Jerry Ball of  Greenville, Ala.; two brothers-in-law, Jim Boleware of Alexander City, Ala., and Willie George Smith of Richmond, Va.; two sisters-in-law, Betty Ann Savage of Pensacola, Fla., and Ellen Ball of Montgomery, Ala.; a loving mother-in-law, Mrs. Clara Smith of Greenville, Ala.; two stepsons, Roy Mickles Jr of Troy, Ala., and Marcus Dwayne Mickles of Pensacola, Fla.; one stepdaughter, Keeshunda Mickles of Greenville, Ala.; three grandsons and one granddaughter who called him “Uncle Papa Granddaddy Hardie,” a host of nieces, nephews, and a friend and family member,  Delores Scott (Laura).
