Betty Ann Cook

Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Ann Cook will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 1 p.m. from New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor Gary Reed officiated. Burial followed in the churchyard cemetery.

Hudson Funeral Services, Greenville, Alabama directed. Betty Ann Cook-Simpson was born to the late Annie Ruth Hardin and Dorsey Lewis on Oct. 23, 1951.

Betty met and married Grady Simpson on April 28, 1968, and united with Harrison Street Missionary Baptist Church. Later in life she rejoined New Hope Missionary Baptist Church were she remained faithful until her health failed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Simpson Sr.; her parents, Annie Ruth (John Westley) Hardin and Dorsey Lewis; and three grandchildren, D’Angelo Kortez Cook, Kristianna LaShay Simpson and Mia Shalice Smith.

She entered her eternal life on April 9, 2017 at Nolan Medical Center in Jackson Hospital, Montgomery, Alabama.

She leaves to cherish her memories five loving and devoted children, Jeanetta Cook, Grady (Gwen) Simpson Jr., Vickie (Donnie) Kemp, Charlene Simpson and Nereida (Rodney) Lowery; loving mother-in-law, Maggie Champion; five sisters, Rosa (Jeff) Albritton, Annie Burnett, Mary Cook and Stephanie (Joseph) Ball, all of Greenville, Ala., and Bernice (Bill) Riley, Temple, Texas; three brothers, Eddie Roy Lewis and Cecil Cook, both of Greenville, Ala., and Stephon (LaDel) Cook, Montgomery, Ala.; sister-in-law, Susan Gregory, brother-in-law Sedgwick Champion and aunt, Dana Peterson, all of Greenville, Ala.; uncle, Will (Marlena) Cook, New Orleans, La. She also leaves nine angels, DeMario, Jeremy, LaQuisha, Jalissa, Candace, Demetria, Tamara, Colby and Jarvis; five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews,  special niece who cared for her during her illness, Tonya Burnett, two good caretakers, Anita Hall and Zena Mickles, a very loving and devoted friend, Earlene Jones,   special caring cousin, Martina Savage and special friend and neighbor, Jeanetta Burnett.
