Ed Perkins

Mr. Ed Perkins, age 79 of Georgiana passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017 at his residence.
A scattering at sea memorial service will be conducted by the United States Navy.
He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Perkins of Georgiana; one son, Charles Randall “Randy” Baker of Nashville, TN; daughters, Paula Laxton (Gary) of Granite Falls, NC; Kellie Strittman McDonald (Bryan) of Baltimore, MD; grandchildren, Matthew Strittman, Tyler Baker, US Army; Tiffany McDonald, Robert McDonald, Shannon Laxton Little, Bradley Conrad Laxton, Michelle Lynn Hancock (Daniel); great grandchildren, Paula Marie Laxton, Eric Conrad Laxton, Lucas Hancock, Ryder Hancock.
He was preceded in death by sons, Thomas Kenyon Barber, Jr., Keith “A” Barber and Mickey Lee Barber.
Mr. Perkins retired Master Chief after 27 years of service in the U.S. Navy. He served in the Korean War and four tours in the Vietnam War. After retirement, he was the Commander for VFW Post #2420 in Lake Wales, Florida. During his service, it was regarded as the # 1 VFW Post in the nation. Mr.Perkins’ dedicated his retirement years to helping other veterans. The Perkins were members of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Georgiana. Also, left to grieve his absence are two Dachshunds, Roscoe and Manny.
