Monday morning, the Crenshaw County Board of Education board members and other faculty were treated to a breakfast in honor of School Board Member Recognition Month.

In honor of School Board Recognition Month, the board members of the Crenshaw County Board of Education were treated to a breakfast to thank them for their service to the school district.

“Vision, leadership and the ability to listen I think describes what you do,” said Crenshaw County Superintendent Boyd English.

“I really feel like y’all work for the kids. It’s an honor to work with you and to take your vision and what you see for the system and try to run with it.”

In the two years English has been a part of the Crenshaw County BOE, he says the dedication and persistence of the board never ceases to amaze him.

“I appreciate your willingness to listen and consider what we’re doing and how we’re leading our system,” he said.

“There are systems in our region that have boards that are in turmoil that are constantly battling or have hidden agendas. They don’t actually work in the best interest for children.”

English considers himself a fan of quotes, and ended his speech with these words: “Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality.”
