Thomas Ross Godwin

Thomas Ross Godwin, 91, of Braggs, Ala., passed away Friday, Dec. 16 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Ross died on the family farm that he was born on – a place that he cultivated, cared for and loved so much. He was the son of Margaret Lee Till and Thomas Michael Godwin, and was born on Jan. 15, 1925. He married Evelyn Ward, and after her death, married Margaret Lambert, who passed away in 2014. Ross was preceded in death by his three siblings, Margaret Boyett, George Godwin and Bryan Godwin.

Although Ross never had children of his own he leaves behind a large and loving family, including his nephews, Roger Godwin and family and William Boyett and family; and his nieces, Sue Ellen Boyett Robinson and family and Meg Boyett Cunningham and family. Throughout the last few years of his life he was also surrounded by a highly dedicated and devoted group of caregivers who consistently provided support and comfort.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 11 a.m., with Dunklin and Daniels Funeral Home directing. The visitation will begin at 10 a.m. at Dunklin and Daniels Funeral Home, 812 Commerce Street, Greenville, Ala. A committal service will follow at New Bethel Cemetery in Braggs. The family will host a celebration of life for Ross Godwin at his family home following the gravesite service to honor a great man who served as such an inspiring testament of grace and strength, both in his family and in this community.
