The Butler County Humane Society is making sure your furry friends aren’t left out this holiday season. The BCHS is now taking pre-orders for cat and dog stockings filled with hand-crafted goodies. The project is part of Operation: Crafty Cause for Paws, an ongoing fundraiser undertaken this fall by the non-profit organization.

Pet lovers can order “plain” (red mesh) stockings for $11 each or two for $18, or fancy (embellished fabric) stockings for $12 each or two for $20. Each canine stocking has a selection of  homemade chew/tug toys, doggie treats and cute puppy stickers for his humans. The feline stockings feature several homemade catnip toys of various types, a cat teaser wand, kitty treats and kitten stickers.

“We hope to make this a fun annual holiday fundraiser and come up with new ideas every year for the stockings,” said project chair Angie Long. “We also want to thank everyone who has donated items we have recycled for Crafty Cause for Paws. We are still taking your donations, too.”

Also available are unique feline-themed mugs for the cat lovers on your list packaged with catnip toys and kitty treats for their furry babies. The mug sets are $12 each or two for $20.

The stockings will be available for pickup at The Greenville Advocate office in mid-December or delivery can be arranged in the Greenville area. To pre-order your dog/cat stockings, please email your order to: angieklong60@gmail.com or call 382-5145 and leave a message. Please include information about the size of your dog (s) as well, says Long.

“Help our county’s homeless animals this season while you treat your own pets and those of your family members, neighbors and friends,” said Long. “It’s a win-win situation!”
