Voncile J. Strickland, 86, a resident of Burkville, Ala., died at her home Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016. The funeral service was held Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Dunklin and Daniels Funeral Home. Brother Al Finch and Brother Andy Hepburn officiated and Dunklin and Daniels Funeral Home directed. Burial followed at New Bethel Cemetery in Braggs, Ala. Visitation was held Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Dunklin and Daniels Funeral Home.

Mrs. Strickland was preceded in death by her husband, Joe E. Strickland; daughter, Winnie S Loftin; son-in-law, Gilbert E. Loftin, Sr.; granddaughter, Sharon K. McGough; and grandson, Gilbert E. Loftin Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Linda S. Cates (Jack) of Lowndesboro, Ala.; grandchildren, Teri L. Spivey (Ray) of Deatsville, Ala., Elizabeth C. Smith (Darrell) of Montgomery, Ala., and Joseph E. Cates of Northfield, Vt.; great-grandchildren, Neal McGough of Honoraville, Ala., Belinda Jane Smith of Montgomery, Ala., Jordan Spivey of Deatsville, Ala., and Darrell Smith Jr. of Montgomery, Ala.; sisters, Marie Ingram of Selma, Ala., Betty Lou Cook of Auburn, Ala., and Thera McBride of Dothan, Ala.; and many nieces, nephews and other family members. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to New Bethel Braggs Cemetery Fund, 15293 St. Hwy 21S, Minter, AL 36761.
