Pioneer to host member meeting Oct. 15
Pioneer Electric Cooperative (PEC) will hold the 2016 Annual Member Meeting on October 15, 2016 at the Butler County Fairgrounds, located off Highway 10 West in Greenville, Alabama. Gates are scheduled to open at 8:30 a.m. and the official meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. All PEC members are invited to attend and each member may bring up to five guests.
Every October, PEC holds the annual meeting to allow member-owners to participate directly in the cooperative’s Democratic process of electing members to the Pioneer Electric Board of Trustees. This year, Districts 2, 5 and 8 Trustees are up for election. The meeting also creates an opportunity for members to get to know more about PEC and to learn about new and existing programs available to members.
“While members can cast their votes by mail-in ballot if they are unable to attend the meeting, we do hope that our members will join us for a fun, informative time on Saturday, October 15,” said Pioneer Electric Communications Specialist Casey Rogers. “We are excited to announce a programs that Pioneer will be participating in this upcoming year. We hope that members will take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about what’s available to them as Pioneer’s member-owners.” Rogers also said that all mail-in ballots must be received by Wednesday, October 12, 2016 in order to be properly counted.
There will be live entertainment; the Touchstone Energy hot air balloon will be available for rides and members will have the opportunity to win door prizes and more. Members in attendance will be eligible to win one of ten $75 bill credits, as well as a grand prize of a “year of free power,” based on the average yearly residential usage and valued over $2,000.
Pioneer Electric Cooperative has served members for over 75 years and currently provides reliable service to more than 11,000 members in southeast Alabama. PEC’s coverage territory encompasses four primary counties, including Butler, Dallas, Lowndes and Wilcox, while also reaching parts of Autauga, Conecuh, Crenshaw, Covington and Monroe counties.
