Crash claims life of Georgiana woman
TROY– A single-vehicle crash on Tuesday, Sept. 13 has claimed the life of a Georgiana woman.
Lora Payne Powell, 51, was killed when the 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche in which she was a passenger left the roadway and struck a tree.
Powell was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Chevrolet, Ira Bradley Dean, 48, of Georgiana, was transported to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery for treatment of his injuries.
The crash occurred at 7:49 a.m. on Interstate 65 near the 118 mile marker, four miles north of Georgiana.
Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
