Funeral services for Miss Laura Jean Coleman were held on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016 at 1 p.m. from Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Rev. Wilbert Jenkins served as officiating minister. Burial followed in the churchyard cemetery. Hudson Funeral Services, Greenville, Alabama directed.
Miss Laura Jean Coleman was born April 18, 1951 to the late Herman Sr., and Carrie Coleman. She was a faithful member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church from childhood until her health failed. She was employed at Boss Manufacturing for 30 years, and she was later employed at West Point Stevens until she retired. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Lee Frank, Eddie, Anderson and Herman Jr.
She departed this life in the comfort of her daughter’s home on Monday, Aug. 29, 2016.
She leaves to cherish her memories a loving and devoted daughter, Naomi Coleman; a loving and devoted son, Tony Coleman; two loving granddaughters, Mya Antoinete and Makayla Alexandria Coleman; a loving and devoted companion of 28 years, Bodie Smith; sister, Janie (Dennis) Stewart; three brothers, Ronnie (Rita) Lowery, David (Virginia) Lowery and O’Neal (Lenora) Lowery; god-brother, Darron (Devette) Mack of Greenville, Ala.; aunt, Bessie Coleman, Georgiana, Ala.; uncle, Joe Coleman, Mobile, Ala.; sister-in-law, Dorothy Jean Coleman; special friends, Daisy Ruffin, Shirley Miller, Mary Sturgeon and Mable Feagin; two devoted cousins, Debbie Payne and Hattie Lawson, both of Greenville, Ala.; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
