Betty Elizabeth Earnest

Betty Elizabeth Earnest, 71, passed away on Aug. 24, 2016 after an extended illness at her home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of Gerald Wayne Earnest. They shared 52 years of marriage together.
Born in Dallas County, Ala., she was the daughter of Eva and William Roy Phelps. She was preceded in passing by her parents and her brothers, William Roy Jr., Curtis Wayne and Jerry Donald Phelps.
She was a graduate of Greenville High School of Greenville, Ala., and did so with honors. She was an AUM graduate and finished magna cum laude. She had worked in the banking industry and finance, and was a licensed real estate agent. Her favorite hobby was taking care of her beautiful rose garden.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne; her two children, Vicky Grobe of Montgomery, Ala., and Jeffrey Earnest of New York; and two grandsons, Holden Grobe of Montgomery, Ala., and Chandler Grobe of Hartford, Conn.
The funeral service will be at noon on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016 with interment at Alabama Heritage Cemetery. The visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Alabama Heritage.
