STAFF REPORTS:

Ed Beasley would like to announce his candidacy for Mayor of the City of Luverne.

“I opened Ed’s Barber Shop in Luverne in 1972. During that time, I have cut a lot of hair and talked with a lot of people about things they like and don’t like about the City of Luverne,” Beasley said.

“I hear about what they would like to see changed. We are going to have to make some changes if we want our city to survive and grow.”

Now at the barber shop one day a week, he has the time to devote to tackling problems and issues that concern citizens, such as economic development, traffic, safety and better communication with citizens.

Beasley served as the Crenshaw County Commissioner for District Three for 16 years. During that time, he says he learned much about dealing with budgets, limited funds and providing vital services to citizens.

“As a Commissioner, I felt it was my job and responsibility to devote my time to the people that lived in District Three,” he said.

“I plan to do the same thing as Mayor. I do not plan on sitting in City Hall five days a week. I plan to be active and out in the city so that I can talk to you, the citizens, and solve problems before they become critical.”

In the coming weeks, Beasley says he will be outlining some of the issues that I will immediately work on if he is elected Mayor.

Beasley encourages citizens with problems or concerns to contact him at (334) 850-2651 or follow him on Facebook.

“I will work to make the City of Luverne better for everyone,” he said.
