Drug Take-Back day planned for Friday

Instead of flushing old prescription drugs down the toilet, the Butler County Sheriff’s Office wants to help citizens dispose of these pills properly.

Sheriff Kenny Harden said his office would be participating in a Prescription Drug Take-Back Day with SpectraCare Health Systems Friday.

The BCSO will be accepting expired and unused prescriptions. Event organizers say there will be no questions asked.

All citizens have to do is stop by the Sheriff’s Office at the Butler County Courthouse and drop off unwanted prescriptions. The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The BCSO has participated in similar events in the past, including the DEA’s Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.

The sheriff said such events help reduce crime.

“This helps get the drugs out of your house, which can help cut down on burglaries and abuse,” Harden said. “If you have someone in your family with a drug problem, they won’t have anything to take if you get rid of it.”
