BCHS looking for pet calendar stars

The Butler County Humane Society is looking for your best pet pics.
The organization is now accepting submissions for its annual pet calendar photo contest.
“We invite all friends of the furry to submit their best photos to the contest for the chance to appear in our 2017 calendar,” said BCHS President Herbert Morton.
The entry fee per photo is now $7 with no limitation on the number of photos entered.
“We have some fun monthly themes this year, and as you sort through or take pet photos this summer, we encourage you to keep these in mind,” said Morton.
The potential categories include funniest, prettiest pussycats, most handsome hounds, most festive pets, laziest, best dressed, barnyard beauts, my hooman and me, most school spirit, most adventurous, pet potpourri, most beautiful eyes, sterling seniors, cutest “kids” and best buddies.
The 12 categories with the best overall photographs will fill the monthly pages.
The best photo from each of those categories will be featured as part of the front cover collage.
Both hard copy and digital photos are accepted and are not limited to just felines and canines.
Morton wants to remind pet lovers that images that look fine on your cell phone screen won’t necessarily translate to a good photo for a calendar.
“We need you to send your higher-resolution photos, preferably the original photo from a negative, or a good copy scanned at high resolution on a computer scanner,” explains Morton.
Digital photos should be at least 1 MB or as close to it as possible.
Entry forms are available at The Greenville Advocate and the Shell Depot on Fort Dale Road.
They can also be obtained by emailing angieklong60@gmail.com and requesting a copy be emailed to you or by visiting the BCHS Facebook page and downloading a form from the “Notes” section.
Payment, entry forms and hard copy photos/photo CDs should be sent to: BCHS Pet Photo Contest, PO Box 264, Greenville, AL 36037. Digital photos and entry information should be emailed to angieklong60@gmail.com and payment can be made by check to address above or online at the BCHS blog www.butlercoalhumanesociety.com
“We hope to have lots of great photos submitted so we will have another wonderful calendar and be able to continue to fund our mission to help the homeless animals of our county,” said Morton.
Deadline for digital submissions is 10 p.m. July 31 and all mailed photos should be postmarked no later than July 30.
For questions or additional information, email angieklong60@gmail.com or call 334-382-5145 and leave a message. Judging will take place in August and cover winners will be notified by late August.
