Linnie Prescott Blackwell

 

Linnie Prescott Blackwell, 84, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away on Friday, June 24.  A graveside service for Blackwell was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 26, in Bethlehem Cemetery with Minister Jerry Barlow officiating and Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.  Linnie was preceded in death by her husbands, Roland Blackwell and Marzette Sexton; son, Thomas A. Blackwell; and granddaughter, Ashley Brooke Blackwell.  She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Debbie Sexton Stubbs and Jerry Stubbs; four grandchildren, Toni (Mike) Ingram, Bill (Sunny) Sexton, Jessica (Jonathan) Cox and Tab (Mary Beth) Blackwell; 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Cauthen, Sue Harrod and Martha Harrod; and brother, Raymond Prescott. Active pallbearers were Storm Worthington, Doug Davis, Tab Blackwell, Mike Ingram, Bill Sexton and Bill Findley.

Martha Ann Summerlin

 

Martha Ann Summerlin Smith, 79, a resident of Huntsville, Alabama, and formerly of Luverne, passed away on Saturday, June 25.  Funeral services for Smith were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 28, from the Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with Minister Robert Sport officiating. Interment followed in Luverne Emmaus Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.  Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac Eugene Smith, and her parents, Walter N. and Verla Moseley Summerlin.  She is survived by her four children, Kathy (Doug) Faulk, Kenneth (Jennifer) Smith, Ann (Thomas) Greene and Beverly (William) Hall; and eight grandchildren, Madison (Kaleb) Huff, McKenzie (John) Zartman, Austin (Natalie) Smith, Kaitlyn (Scott) Swanson, Torrey (Amy) Greene, Tyler (Ericka) Greene, Riley Hall and Reagan Hall.  Martha retired from SCI, and then went on to work for Sam’s Club. She was also a member of University Baptist Church in Huntsville. Her grandsons served as active pallbearers.
