Recently, culinary masters from all across the county gathered in the Luverne United Methodist Church Dei Center to participate in the fourth annual Taste of Crenshaw event.

This event brought together restaurants and caterers all throughout Crenshaw County and supplied interested citizens with samples of appetizers, dinner items, sides, beverages and desserts.

“The fourth annual Taste of Crenshaw was another successful evening,” said Crenshaw County Chamber of Commerce President Don Nix.

“More than 200 people including members, guests and vendor staffs enjoyed samplings from 15 county restaurants, caterers and delicatessens.”

This event was sponsored and hosted by the Crenshaw County Chamber of Commerce. The idea for the event came over four years ago when the group began thinking of different ways to make their annual Chamber meeting more entertaining.

“Al Snellgrove suggested the food sampling, and it has been a hit with the members and community since day one,” Nix said.

The evening offered entertainment, door prizes and multiple opportunities to refill your plate as dish after dish was presented.

Restaurants and caterers in attendance were Chicken Shack, The Dinner Table, Hardee’s, Bush’s BBQ, Mainstreet Sweets, Sister Schubert’s, Pepsi of Luverne, Mattie’s, Amazing Grace Café in Dozier, Sydney’s Catering, Michael’s Southern Foods, Subway, Ramey’s and Marathon.

“Participation for this event continues to grow and exceed expectations for us. More vendors and more diners were anticipated this year and added to the experience,” Nix said.

“We are already planning for anticipated growth next year. With the tremendous feedback we have received from so many attendees, it’s obvious our members and vendors are already looking forward to next year’s Taste of Crenshaw.”
