New boutique to open in Highland Home

Since graduating high school in 2008, Nyeshia Berry has dreamed of owning her own boutique. Now, she is finally able to cross that item off her bucket list as she prepares to host an open house event and ribbon cutting for Berry Beautiful Salon and Boutique this Saturday at 1 p.m. in Highland Home.
“I was inspired when I was in high school. I used to go to boutiques to get clothes, and there would always be a limited amount on the size that I wanted; plus sized, basically,” Berry said.
“So, I wanted to open up something to where plus sized women could come in and find something just a cute as someone wearing regular sized clothing.”
Originally from Grady, Ala., Berry attended Highland Home School and graduated in 2008. After graduating, she attended and graduated from Virginia College in 2012 with a license in cosmetology.
Now a business owner, Berry is excited to finally open her own shop in Highland Home in the area located next to David’s Gym.
The boutique will offer clothing items such as summer outfits, club and party attire, jewelry, hats, shoes and in the future will offer formal gowns for occasions such as proms and other dances.
Currently, Berry plans to mainly house clothing items in the store that cater to plus sized women, but later on she hopes to expand her inventory to include women of other sizes as well.
“Eventually, I want to be able to cater more to plus sizes, but I also want to be able to cater to smaller sizes, too,” Berry said.
“I want to open up something locally for people to shop at. I hope that people will see this as something closer that will keep them from having to go out of town to shop.”
The current hours of operation are slated to be on Thursdays and Fridays from 2 p.m. until and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Berry plans to open the boutique at other times after the inventory grows.
