LBWCC graduate to lead school’s nursing division
LBW Community College named April Wise as Nursing Division Chair with responsibility for all aspects of the nursing program.
“We are pleased that April Wise, a former nursing student, accepted the responsibility of leading the entire nursing program at LBW,” said LBWCC President Dr. Herb Riedel.
Wise completed training for practical nursing in 2003, then achieved an Associate in Applied Science Degree in nursing at LBWCC in 2005. She furthered her education at South University where she achieved a bachelor’s degree in nursing in 2009, master’s degree in nursing in 2010, then a post-graduate family nurse practitioner certificate in 2015.
She brings both instructional and practical nursing experience to the division chair position. She served LBW as nursing instructor and clinical facilitator. She has work experience as a certified nursing assistant, emergency department nurse, medical surgical nurse, and family nurse practitioner.
Wise is certified with the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and is trained in advanced cardiac life support and pediatric advanced life support through the American Heart Association (AHA). She is also an AHA basic life support instructor.
“I am very excited to become division chair,” said Wise. “I am so honored to be able to lead the department that made such a difference in my life both personally and professionally.”
