LBW Community College will select the next class of diagnostic medical sonography (DMS) students based on applications due June 15.

“All prerequisite courses must be completed by the end of summer term for those interested in the DMS program,” said LBWCC DMS Program Director Olivia Bush, BSRT(R), RDMS, RVT.

LBWCC’s DMS program is an associate in applied science degree program with a new class selected each year to begin the program in the fall term. After four consecutive semesters, students complete degree requirements at the end of fall term the following year.

“LBWCC passed a recent site visit and evaluation for continuing accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) with no findings,” said Bush.

“As a CAAHEP-accredited program, LBWCC students may become registered in Abdomen or OB/GYN through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography as early as 60 days prior to graduation. Students completing a program at an institution that is not accredited must work 12 months before they can take the registry.”

Application packets for LBWCC’s fall 2016 DMS program are now available and must be completed and returned by June 15, 2016. Applications can be downloaded at www.lbwcc.edu.
