Mr. John N. McGowin, age 82, passed away Monday, March 21, 2016 at his Brewton residence.

Mr. McGowin was born in Greenville, AL and had been a long time resident of Brewton.  He worked in the timber office at Container Corp. for a number of years.  He was an avid deer hunter and golfer.  Mr. McGowin was preceded in death by a son, John McGowin, Jr. and a brother, Claude McGowin.

He is survived by three daughters, Jenny McGowin of Gulf Shores, AL, Marie McGowin of Marianna, FL, and Peyton Bethea of Brewton, AL; one brother, Richard McGowin of Orlando, FL; four grandchildren, McGowin Bethea, Benton Bethea, Ivey Edwards, and Philippa Edwards.

Private graveside services will be held on Friday, March 25, 2016 at  Union Cemetery with Rev. Tony McCullough officiating.
