Sheriff’s Office, Georgiana PD to purchase video systems

Law enforcement agencies in Butler County will receive more than $19,000 to increase safety for the public and officers.

The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs announced Wednesday that the City of Georgiana was awarded $9,970 and the Butler County Sheriff’s Office was awarded $9,980 to purchase video equipment.

Georgiana will use its funds to purchase five video systems for Georgiana Police Department patrol vehicles.

The Butler County Sheriff’s Office will use its funds to purchase two high-definition panoramic camera systems for patrol vehicles.

The City of Evergreen will also receive $9,994 to replace old police equipment including firearms, ammunition, practice targets, evidence kits and trauma kits.

The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is administering the grants from funds made available by the U.S. Department of Justice. ADECA manages a wide range of programs that support law enforcement, economic development, infrastructure upgrades, recreation, energy conservation, water resources and career development.
