An early morning crash over the weekend claimed the life of a Butler County woman.

Brandy Boutwell, 38, was killed when the 2012 Ford Mustang she was driving left the roadway and overturned along Butler County Road 17, approximately six miles north of Georgiana. Boutwell, who according to Alabama State Troopers was not wearing her seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle.

The preliminary investigation, according to authorities, indicates that alcohol was a factor in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
