Mrs. Ida Ruth Holmes Duke, 77, a resident of Mobile, Ala., died on Friday, Oct. 23, 2015 at Providence Hospital in Mobile.

The family received friends at Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home on Monday, Oct. 26, 2015 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home with Brother Donnie Holmes and Rev. Jason Simmons officiating.  Burial followed in Sunrise Memorial Park, Greenville, Ala.  Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home of Greenville directed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Annie Holmes; husband, Johnnie Duke; son, Danny Palmer; daughter, Susie Palmer; and sisters, Jean Buchanan and Margie Sue Bodiford.

Mrs. Duke is survived by children, Linda Gail Davis (Greg) of Summerdale, Ala., Sheila Buchanan (Jimmy) of Mobile, John W. Duke “Bo” of Glenwood, Ala., Charles Vernon Duke “Cotton” of Greenville, Patsy Dunklin “Patty” (Chris) of Mobile, Rickey Lee Duke (Santana) of Montgomery, Ala.; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Shelby Holmes (Buena) of Luverne, Ala., William Clinton Holmes (Thelma) of Highland Home, Ala., Mickey Ralph Holmes (Susan) of Montgomery, Ala., and Donnie Dwight Holmes (Gea) of Lapine, Ala.; many nieces and nephews.
