Funeral services for Mr. Charlie Roy Davidson Jr. will be held on Saturday, Aug. 15 at noon from First Missionary Baptist Church. Apostle Cecilia Owens will serve as eulogist. Burial will follow in Hickory Grove cemetery. Hudson Funeral Services of Greenville will direct services.

Davidson, the son of the late Mr. Charlie and Annie P. Davidson, was born June 6, 1950 in Greenville, Ala. He accepted Christ at an early age at the First Baptist Missionary Baptist Church in Greenville, where he was a faithful member until his health failed.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Katherine Clifton; brother, Curtis Davidson; and granddaughter, Quadayka Simmons.

Davidson received his early education in the Butler County Public Schools. He received a higher education at Selma University and Alabama State University. The State of Alabama Highway Department employed him for more than 25 years, and he retired in December 2012. He was a member of the Butler County Optimist Club, a 32nd degree Mason and a barber. On May 5, 1975, he united in marriage with Myrtle Hayes, and to this union two sons were born.

On Monday, Aug. 10, 2015, he quietly answered his heavenly Father’s call and went home to eternal peace.  He leaves to cherish his memory two loving and devoted sons, Christopher (Melinda) Davidson and Lionel Davidson, both of Greenville; one daughter, Stephanie (John) Burnett of Ft. Mitchell, Ala.; two sisters, Linda Davidson and Peggy (Dale) Rogers, both of Greenville; one brother, Jerry Davidson, of Greenville; one uncle, Mr. Myzell (Winkie) Brown of Rochester, N.Y.; one aunt, Mrs. Katie Brown of Greenville; one devoted sister-in-law, Sue (Lomax) Jiminez of Greenville; a special cousin, Mamie Lou Jackson of Birmingham, Ala.; four devoted friends, Barbara Smith, Jeffrey Whatley and Lomax Smith, all of Greenville, and Walter (Mary) Wallace of Pensacola, Fla.. He also leaves to cherish his memories a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
