With summer almost in full swing, high school and college students are looking for activities to participate in that make the summer more fun-filled.
First Unites Methodist Church in Greenville may be the answer.
The church will be hosting a Summer Kick-Off on May 29.
FUMC Youth Director Matt Langford said the kick-off is a fun way to let teenagers know about the activities the church will have to offer during the summer.
“We wanted a way to tell students about our other activities throughout the summer besides just handing them a boring calendar,” Langford said.
The night will be full of free food, giveaways, worship and an encouraging message.
“We think that this event will encourage more students to come to the summer Bible studies and other events we have planned,” said Langford.
Approximately 40 students attended the Summer Kick-Off last year. Langford hopes to see that number double.
“This is the first event to kick off the summer and the first Friday that everyone is out of school. Our mission is to show them that we have a ton fun together worshipping and learning more about Jesus,” said Langford.
The FUMC youth group is planning water days, paintball days and two retreats this summer, all while having Bible studies on Sundays at 5 p.m.
