Luverne UMC plans 7 weeks of themed summer camps

LUMC Summer Camp will begin on June 8. Director Kelley Tomlin has created a summer of fun and education. Kids can learn and grow with a different theme each week.
June 8-12 – Sports Camp … Sports are fun, but they are more fun when you can play. Camp provides the perfect opportunity to improve skills, make new friends, laugh hard and smile a lot. Explore tennis, volleyball, basketball, soccer and golf.
June 15-19 – Drama Camp … Future stars – drama camp will give campers a unique insight into acting, speech, improv, role playing, dramatic movement, comedy, stage craft, choreography, dancing rehearsals and more.
June 22-26 – Art Camp … All forms of art from drawing to painting, molding to learning from local artists and famous artists. Set your imagination and creativity free.
July 6-10 – Music Camp … Your music, your way, everyday. Learn the basics of creating music with voice and instruments. Study the effects of music and dance. Enjoy the presentation of music by some gifted performers. Finally, leave singing and dancing.
July 13-17 – Critter Camp … Come and meet a variety of critters. Learn about grooming, pet care, training and all the most maginficent of God’s creation.
July 20-24 – Construction Camp … Learn to use building tools, how to put things together for a purpose with the help of guests from Homebuilders. Project completed by the end of camp week. Learn about Habitat for Humanity – building with an outreach and a purpose.
July 27-31 – How Does My Garden Grow … How to grow a garden, what grows in the garden, experimenting with new foods, sutdy the uses and fun of foods. Unusual uses of food and food products, children’s “Chopped” cooking contest.
Themed camps will allow the children to enjoy summer vacation while playing and learning with a purpose. Each day camp will begin with check-in, breakfast, devotions, exercise, theme exploration. Camp theme continues following lunch, then afternoon snack, wrap-up and check-out at 4:30.
