Crenshaw Christian Academy advanced to the third round of playoffs with 10-4 and 6-1 wins over Patrician Academy Thursday.

“We were ahead of them the whole time,” said head coach Jerry Folmar.

Folmar said his team came on the field with a great attitude, ready to make up past losses.

“Patrician beat us in the (football) playoffs,” he said. “There were good athletes on both fields.”

He was most pleased with the Cougars’ offense.

“We had the best situational hitting we’ve had all season,” Folmar said. “We’ve got several kids that finally bought into what we were doing.”

The Cougars had 14 hits in the first game, alone. Folmar said players let the ball come to them, instead of reaching across the plate for balls and it made all the difference.

Tyler Weeks, Dalton Weeks and Brandon White shared duty on the mound.

“All three of them threw well,” Folmar said.

Backing up quality pitching was a solid defense.

“We had a couple of good errors,” Folmar said. “But, the thing about it is we followed them up with good plays.”

The Cougars will travel to Jackson Academy Wednesday for the next round.
