Crenshaw County roads will get some TLC as volunteers participate in the “Don’t Drop it on Alabama” spring cleanup campaign.

The statewide initiative will be held April 18-25.

County Administrator David Smyth said taking part in the cleanup is simple.

“The only thing individuals, groups, churches, etc need to do is come by and pick up trash bags,” he said.

Bags are available at the County Commissioners’ office in the Courthouse.

Crenshaw County has taken part in the event for several years.

“We always ask the different groups if they will try to report how many bags they picked up,” Smyth said.

The statistics are shared statewide after the week of civic pride ends.

During the 2014 campaign, 61 counties participated and reported that more than 368 tons of litter and debris were picked up during the weeklong effort.

To assist in cleanup, dumpsters will be placed at the Highland Home Volunteer Fire Department, Ramey’s parking lot in Luverne and at the Smith Oil station in Brantley.
