Carol S. Able

 

Carol S. Able, 58, a resident of Georgiana, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2015. A memorial service will be done at a later date by the family. Survivors include husband, William Able Sr. of Georgiana; daughter, Tina Campbell of McKenzie; son, William Able Jr. of Georgiana; father, Eugene Jumper of Gulf Shores; sister, Kathy Drago of Gulf Shores; brother, Jeff Jumper of Pensacola, Fla.; and granddaughter, Taylor Campbell of McKenzie, Alabama. Mary Helen Gillion Childress

 

Mary Helen Gillion Childress, 83, a native of Greenville and a longtime resident of Tuscaloosa and Slapout, Ala., died March 17 in Plano, Texas. Funeral services will be Monday, March 23, at 2 p.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church with Rev. Gayle Woodard officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. until service time. The family requests any donations be made to Bethel Cemetery Fund, 196 Bell Road, Ft. Deposit, AL 36032. A graduate of Ball State University in Muncie, Ind., Mrs. Childress worked for many years for the State of Alabama as a food-stamps counselor. Phillip Crutchfield

 

Mr. Phillip Crutchfield, 70, a resident of Greenville died on March 16.  Graveside funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on March 19 at the Crutchfield Family Cemetery with Rev. Randy Harvell and Rev. Andy McKoewn officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing. Mr. Crutchfield was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Ira and Lessie Mae Crutchfield.  He is survived by his wife, Betty Crutchfield; son, Christopher Phillip Crutchfield (Hannah) of Hunstville, Ala.; stepchildren, David L. Jordan (Theresa) of Greenville, and Christy Welch (Scott) of Greenville; grandchildren, Ethan Crutchfield, Ellis Crutchfield, Josh House, Nick Welch, Kristen Welch and Michael Paul McLendon; and great-grandson, Nathan Welch. Bertie Lee Smith

 

Bertie Lee Smith, 89, a resident of Greenville, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015. A celebration of life service was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 from the Johnson Funeral Chapel. Burial followed in Love’s Way Cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home of Georgiana directed arrangements. Survivors include daughters, Carolyn Wasden and Bonnie Stokes, both of Greenville; son, Chester Wayne Smith of Greenville; sister, Lucille Lowery of Georgiana; nine grandchildren, and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
