Mike Dubose resigned last week as head coach of the Luverne Tigers, and quickly accepted a job as the Opp Bobcats’ linebacker coach.
Dubose is a native of Opp, and still lives in Opp so he won’t have to pack up and move.
Dubose led Luverne to back-to-back playoff berths in 2013 and 2014. His 2013 team went to the Class 2A quarterfinals, and finished with an 11-2 record. In 2004 he led the Tigers into the 2A state title game.
Dubose is best known for his tenure at the University of Alabama where he was the head football coach from 1997-2000. Dubose led the Tide to an SEC title in 1999, before being fired in 2000.
Dubose also spent several season with the Tampa Buccaneers, as an assistant before taking the reigns at Alabama.
