He began his work in Luverne on Jan. 4.

Smith comes to Luverne from Wetumpka.

“I’m mostly moved, now,” he said. “We’re still trying to get all the odds and ends there.”

He has preached in Indiana, Charlotte, N.C.; Knoxville, Tenn.; LaGrange, Ga.; Pensacola and Gulf Breeze, Fla.; Jackson and Selma.

Smith is an instructor at Faulkner University and Amridge University in Montgomery. He teaches courses on the Bible, marriage and family.

In the first week of March, Smith will start a marriage and family course at the Church of Christ.

“It’s about improving marriage, relationships and family; how to deal with children; divorce prevention; and economic assistance,” he said.

The course will be held on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings.

Church of Christ is located at 67 North Woodford Avenue, across from First Citizens Bank. Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m. Worship is at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Wednesday’s Bible study starts at 7 p.m. For transportation, call 334-335-5089.
