Luverne Public Library will welcome two very special guests this month. On Monday, Jan. 12, baby camels Henry and Henrietta will be on hand for the library’s craft day.

“This program is being sponsored by the John Wilson Family in memory of Mrs. Lucy Jackson, who was such a devoted library patron and supporter for years,” said Regina Grayson, assistant director.

During the program, children will be able to pet and feed the camels, which are from McClelland’s Critters Zoo in Banks.

“They are bringing baby camels because those were the only baby animals they had right now,” Grayson said.

Library Director Kathryn Tomlin said the event was a great way to honor Jackson.

“I know Mrs. Lucy would be very pleased that the Wilson family has honored her memory by providing a children’s program at the library. Mrs. Lucy loved children and she loved the library,” Tomlin said. “She was always so pleased that we were offering more children’s programming.”

The library offers free monthly programs for children of all ages. Most events include reading and crafts.

Henry and Henrietta will be at the library at 4 p.m. For more information, call 335-5326.
