John Samuel Andrews

John Samuel Andrews, 72, died at his residence on Nov., 19, 2014.

Mr. Andrews was a graduate of Dothan High School, the University of Alabama and Cumberland School of Law. After graduating from law school, he moved to Greenville and practiced law. He also served as the District Attorney for the 2nd Judicial Circuit of Alabama from 2001-2012.

Mr. Andrews was preceded in death by his father, James Edwin Andrews, and his mother, Johnnie Williford Andrews, both of Dothan.

He is survived by his wife, Susan C. Andrews; his brother, Eddie (Rosemary) Andrews of Dothan; his daughter, Cemira (Travis) Powell of Greenville; his son, Jeff (Angie) Andrews of Dothan; his grandchildren, James Andrews, Joseph Price, Megan Andrews and Clay Powell; his nieces and nephews, Kit Andrews, Nancy D. Mills, Joy D. (Michael) Walker and Blake (Kim) Andrews.

The memorial service will be held today, Sat., Nov. 22, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Saint Thomas Episcopal Church in Greenville with the Rev. Reid T. McCormick officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Saint Thomas Episcopal Church Memorial Fund, 210 Church Street, Greenville, AL 36037.

Mary Lee Brown

Miss Mary Lee Brown, 82, a resident of Leeds, AL, died on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at her residence.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home with Rev. Herbert Brown and Rev. Stan Young officiating. The Order of Eastern Star of the State of Alabama will be conducting an Eastern Star Service. Interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery. Dunklin and Daniels Funeral Home will direct.

Miss Brown was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Evella Brown, and her brothers, Mose and Bernard Brown.

Miss Brown is survived by her three sisters, Betty Jordan of Leeds, Ann Crews (Terry) of Odenville and Judy Young of Springville; two brothers, J. W. Brown of Greenville and Mack Brown (Clemie) of Montgomery, several nieces and nephews and other extended family members.

She was a former member of Southside Baptist Church of Greenville and a past worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 180 of Montgomery.

Joyce Heartsell Kent

Mrs. Joyce Heartsell Kent, age 83, a resident of Rutledge, died Tues., Nov. 18, 2014, at her residence. Funeral services were held on Fri., Nov. 21, 2014, at the County Line Church of Christ with Minister Dennis Sanders officiating. Interment followed in Black Rock Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Mrs. Kent is preceded in death by her husband, J.E. Kent; her parents, Charlie and Maggie McGaha Heartsell; and three brothers, Dewitt Heartsell, Charlie Mack Heartsell and Kenneth Heartsell.

Survivors include six children, Larry (Kim) Kent, Sharon (Randy) Beasley, Sherry (Fred) Jeffcoat, Sheila (Jerry) Mills, Donnie Kent and Ronnie (Joan) Kent; 13 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and a brother, Terry (Sandra) Heartsell.

Active pallbearers were Homer Carpenter, Randal Beasley, Tanner Pouncey, Daryl Pouncey, Shannon Malone and Jeff Wilson.
