ACKERMAN COLUMN: Jesus is the Power Source
Published 4:28 pm Thursday, November 20, 2014
Jesus said, “Come to Me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest,” Matthew 11:28.
Are you weary? Are you carrying heavy burdens that have raged havoc on your body, mind and spirit for way too long?
It may be that you have carried the weight of an abusive or alcoholic spouse, or a parent whose health is rapidly failing or a prodigal child. So many things try to weigh us down and get our focus off of the Freedom Giver, the Prince of Peace, the Sustainer of our souls, Jesus Christ, Lord and Savior of the world.
There is a song that I love to sing called “Break Every Chain.” The words repeat over and over, “There is power in the name of Jesus to break every chain.”
JESUS CHRIST is THE POWER SOURCE to break every chain. Every other power source we can find ourselves pursuing at times will run out of power, and will always lead to a dead end. But not the one true GOD.
Let me share with you this one thing I’ve truly come to understand in the past few weeks. Everything in this world is temporary. EVERYTHING! Your mortal body, your earthly home, your daily job, your hurts, your heartaches, all of your disappointments. They are all temporary.
God wants you to know, but most importantly get hold of and soak in that while all of this is temporary, He is not.
He is your Sustainer, your Provider, your Peace. He is not temporary. Nothing about Him is temporary.
He is not just a “for today kinda fix” for your problems only when you need Him. He is eternal, His strength, His grace is everlasting will sustain you EVERY DAY.
I pray this gives you encouragement in the upcoming weeks as the holidays approach.
Sometimes our hearts can reflect on losses that have occurred and taken their toil on us. When that happens, start to reflect on these words I have shared, put Satan back under your feet where he belongs, turn to the Power source and lean into Him.
He will catch your fall, take your heavy burdens, break your chains and will give you peace that surpasses all understanding. And it is the perfect peace.
I am praying for each person who reads this and that God will bless you abundantly this holiday season as well as our community of Luverne and surrounding areas.
