Melvin Flowers, 66, at resident of Lapine died Wed., Nov. 5, 2014. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sat., Nov. 8, 2014 at Magnolia Baptist Church with Rev. Chuck Francisco and Rev. Clay Crum officiating. Interment followed in Berea Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Mr. Flowers was preceded in death by his father, Joe Flowers; sister, Margaret Middlebrooks; two brothers, Eddie Joe Flowers and Roy Flowers.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mila Mae Flowers; two children, Lisa (Frank) Tompkins and Samantha (Bill) Brown; five grandchildren, Josh (Holly) Tompkins, Jake Tompkins, Katarina Brown (Jeffrey Sexton), Cody Brown and Dale Brown; two great-grandchildren, Mallory Sexton and Turner Tompkins; mother, Flarcy Flowers Jones; sister, Bonnie Flowers; four brothers, Curtis Flowers, Glenn Flowers, Marvin Flowers and Earl Flowers and a large extended family.

Active pallbearers were Josh Tompkins, Jake Tompkins, Jeffrey Sexton, Casey Petty, Cory Petty and Cyle Petty. Honorary pallbearers were Jimmy DeFonzo and Lonnie Chesser.
