Michelle Boswell’s win over Randall Petty was months in the making. She was elected Crenshaw County revenue commissioner Tuesday night after taking a leave of absence from her revenue office position last February to campaign.

“It’s been a long nine months,” she said. “I worked under Mrs. Sherry (McSwean) and loved the job. I love the people and love this county.”

Boswell also worked under her opponent, Randall Petty, during part of her six-year tenure in the revenue office. Petty was appointed in 2013 to fill the remainder of McSwean’s term after she retired from the position.

Boswell said she was glad she and Petty had run a good, clean race.

“I think he’s a good person,” she added.

Boswell was all smiles Tuesday night.

“I am so excited and overwhelmed by the voter turnout,” she said. “I feel really blessed.”
