Mr. Phillip Ivan Ballard, a resident of Luverne, was born in Crenshaw County on June 15, 1939 and died on Aug. 13, 2014. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014 at Chapel Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Neal Kelley and Rev. Kline Jeffcoat officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mr. Ballard was preceded in death by his parents, Dempsey and Nancy Phillips Ballard. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Louellen Spurlock Ballard; three daughters, Rhonda Ballard Ray, Beth Ballard Foster (Jeff) and Suzanne Ballard; five grandchildren, Shannon Ray Hester (Duane), Jared Ledbetter, Logan Ray, Hillary White and Bryant Ray; three great-grandchildren, Abby and Anna Hester and Baylor Ledbetter; brother, Wayne Ballard (Ann); two sisters-in-law, Margaret Spurlock Ballard (Jim) and Bonnie Spurlock O’Dell (Danny); and a host of nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers were Jered Ledbetter, Logan Ray, Bryant Ray, Jeff Newton, Rayn Ballard and Kevin Messick.
