Carlton E. Whittle, 74, a resident of Greenville, died on Aug. 10. Funeral services were held on Aug. 12 at Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home with minister Terry Gafford and minister Tommy Gafford officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing. Burial followed at the Industry Church of Christ Cemetery. Mr. Whittle was preceded in death by his parents, Emmitte and Lucille Whittle. He is survived by his wife, Martha Whittle; daughters, Bonnie Whittle Green (Eric) of Nashville, Tenn., and Carla Whittle Goth of Greenville; grandchildren; Olivia and Jack Green of Nashville, Tenn., Ian and Connor Goth of Tallassee, Ala., and Dawson Goth of Greenville; sister, Linda Luman (Robert) of Industry, Ala. Active pallbearers were Bruce Vickers, Charles Myrick, James Stanfield, Eric Green, Ron McSpadden, and Pat Levy. Honorary pallbearers were Fred Eagerton, Charles W. Jones, Wayne Kervin, Harold Powell, and Tommy Langford. Mr. Whittle was a member of the American Institute of Timber Construction and served as president of that organization for three years. He served on the Board of Directors of Fort Dale Academy for 20 years. He was also an advisory board member of First National Bank and member of the Alabama Nurseryman’s Association.
