Emmie Lou Sexton Grayson, 83, a resident of Greenville died on Aug. 3. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 6, at New Providence Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Scott Sexton officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 5 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home and on Wednesday one hour prior to services. Mrs. Grayson is preceded in death by her parents, William Hollie and Exa Lucille Sexton; husband, James Theo Grayson; and son, William Van Grayson. She is survived by her children, Thomas Lamar Grayson (Helga) of Greenville, James Britt Grayson of Georgiana, and Regina Grayson of Luverne; grandchildren, Brandy Lynn Grayson Tiblier (Jimmy) of Montgomery, and James Thomas “Jim” Grayson of Georgiana; great-granddaughter, Ashley Nicole Tiblier of Montgomery; siblings, Orden Sexton of Grant, Ala., Mickey Sexton of Forest Home, and Margaret Herring of Greenville; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Grayson was a member of New Providence Primitive Baptist Church since the age of 19 and an avid Sacred Harp singer. She worked in the textile industry in Greenville for more than 40 years. She and James Theo Grayson were married for 52 years until his death in April of 2000. She loved her God, her church, and her family and will be missed by all.
