Carlos O’Neal Powell

Funeral services for Mr. Carlos O’Neal Powell will be held on Saturday, Aug. 2, at 1 p.m. from Pine Level Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Johnny Sanders is pastor. Rev. Mark Hawkins will officiate. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery with Hudson Funeral Services directing.  Mr. Powell was born on Feb. 2, 1977, to the late Mr. Johnny Powell Sr., and Ivola Powell. At an early age he joined Pine Level Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Ida Mae Crenshaw and Aline Powell; and grandfathers, Richard Crenshaw Sr., and James Powell Sr. He met and married Regina Grandison-Powell. He departed this life on July 26 at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Ivola Powell;  son, Matthew (Matt Matt) Powell; two  brothers, Johnny (Christina) Powell and Robert Jermaine Powell, all of Greenville; four sisters, Tonya Hamilton, Huntsville, Ala., Tiffanie (Ervin) Powell, Greenville, Kendalsha Powell, Huntsville, Ala., and La’Mekia Cook, Montgomery, Ala.; six aunts, Essie Shambray, Greenville; Ella (Eugene) Lewis, Earlene Crosskey, and Rosie Solomon, all of Orlando, Fla., Linda Powell and Annette Salter, Greenville; four uncles, Richard Crenshaw, Greenville, James (Valisa) Crenshaw, Huntsville, Ala., Willie Lee (Sarah) Powell, Greenville, James (April) Powell III, San Diego, Calif.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends. Special friends include: Sennacherib Bailey, Willie Works, Tracey “Big Dog” Crenshaw, Fitzgerald “Blindside” Lewis, Susie “Momma” Works and Carolyn “Black” Dillard all of Greenville.
