Call it Star Wars Day: Episode III.
The Greenville-Butler County Public Library continues with what has become a popular event for the public on Saturday. The third annual Star Wars Day starts at 11:30 a.m. at the library.
“Lots of fun and games,” said Library Director Kevin Pearcey. “All related to Star Wars of course. This is a great event to provide and a great event for the public, both children and adults. The turnout last year was truly amazing – tons of people. We hope the same will be said about this year.”
Star Wars Day caps off what has been an “outstanding” summer, said Pearcey. “We’ve been really, really pleased with the turnout at our programs this summer,” said Pearcey.
“We went into this summer wanting to provide outside children’s programming from a variety of different organizations and the public embraced what we had to offer. From the Alabama 4-H Center’s Raptor Trek to Michael White’s awesome children’s illustration program, we had a little something for everyone.”
As for this Saturday, Pearcey said Star Wars Day would feature “food, fun and prizes.”
The doors to the library’s Community Room will open at 11:30 a.m. where children and parents can participate in various activities including mask making, a LEGO building contest, a coloring contest and browse the library’s collection of Star Wars books. At approximately 12:30 p.m., attendees can view a 25-minute LEGO Star Wars film in the children’s theatre and snack on some “galaxy goodies.”
At 1 p.m., the library’s popular Star Wars Bingo will start in the Community Room where children can win prizes.
Additionally, Anna Findley of Snazzy Snapshops by Anna will be on hand to photograph during the day and the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce will have Chamber Girls and Pages volunteering.
“Whether you love Star Wars or not, it’s going to be a lot of fun,” said Pearcey.
Star Wars Day is free to the public.
