Helen Skipper Moorer

Helen Skipper Moorer, 88, died July 6 at Baptist East Hospital, following a brief illness. Helen was born in Midway, Ala., and moved to Montgomery, Ala., in 1954, where she dedicated her life to her husband and her children.
Helen was a Past Worthy Matron of Liberty Chapter No. 254, Order of the Eastern Star. Over many years she was active in the Daughters of the Nile Al Phurah No. 126; Order of the Amaranth; Palestine White Shrine of Jerusalem No. 3 and also served as Personal Aide to ten Potentates ’Ladies, Alcazar Shrine.
Helen is survived by her loving family: one son, John William Moorer, Jr. of Montgomery; one daughter, Marcia Ellison (Jerry) of Powder Springs, Ga.; three grandchildren, Brad Ellison (Angie) of Kennesaw, Ga.; Lauren Hartin (Jay), of Prattville, Ala., and Mark Ellison, of Powder Springs, Ga.; five great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and one sister, Cubie Morgan, of Cartersville, Ga. Helen was preceded in death by her devoted husband, John William Moorer, Sr.; her parents, Robert Lee and Mattie Dean Skipper; two brothers and four sisters.
Pallbearers will be: Jerry Ellison (Honorary); Brad Ellison, Mark Ellison, Jay Hartin, Carey Moorer (Honorary); Jimmy Lester, Art Williams, and James Henderson.
The family will receive visitors at 10 a.m., Friday, July 11, at White Chapel Funeral Home, Montgomery, Ala. Following visitation, the tribute to Helen Skipper Moorer will began at 11 a.m. Graveside services will follow in the Forest Home Cemetery in Forest Home, Ala. at 2:30 p.m.
