Pioneer celebrates Alabama Lineman Appreciation Day

Pioneer Electric Cooperative and Alabama Power participated in  Alabama Lineman Appreciation Day on Monday by joining representatives from Alabama’s 22 electric cooperatives and the state’s municipally owned electric utilities at the Capitol building in Montgomery. Pioneer Electric Cooperative and Alabama Power participated in  Alabama Lineman Appreciation Day on Monday by joining representatives from Alabama’s 22 electric cooperatives and the state’s municipally owned electric utilities at the Capitol building in Montgomery.

Congress had previously designated April 18 as National Lineman Appreciation Day and this year, during the last session of the Alabama Legislature,state lawmakers designated the first Monday in June as Alabama Lineman Appreciation Day. Speakers included Alabama Rural Electric Association (AREA) President Fred Braswell, State Senator and Senate Energy Committee Chairman Cam Ward, Representative April Weaver, Public Service Commissioner Jeremy Oden, State Emergency Management Agency Director Art Faulkner, Dixie Electric Cooperative General Manager Gary Harrison and AREA Senior Manager of Safety and Loss Control Michael Kelley.
